Welcome to the cutting edge of taxidermy—where old-world artistry meets space-age technology. If you’ve reached this page, you’re among a select few being introduced to a world-changing innovation that is rewriting the rules of wildlife preservation.

Jim Burnworth has hunted across continents, walked among the greatest trophies this planet offers, and spent decades perfecting his craft—not just in the field, but behind the scenes. Growing up in a manufacturing facility and immersed in high-level fabrication, he’s long understood the potential of technology to elevate tradition. And now, after years of frustration with the limitations of standard taxidermy, Jim and his team have built something extraordinary.

We’re not tweaking the system—we’ve reinvented it from the ground up.

Revolutionizing Taxidermy

The Future is Now at Jimburnworth Safari

The Problem With Traditional Taxidermy

For too long, taxidermy has been at the mercy of guesswork and generic molds. Here’s how it typically works: You harvest your trophy, your outfitter tans the hide, and your taxidermist tries to make it fit a “close enough” foam form pulled from a mold. But tanned hides shrink, stretch, and change shape in unpredictable ways.

Standard forms—built off limited templates—don’t fit the unique measurements of the animal you actually hunted. That’s why so many mounts require hours of clay work to bring back character, shape, and life. It’s also why many final results feel stiff, lifeless, and disappointing—because the structure underneath never fit quite right to begin with.

And let’s talk about creativity—or the lack of it. In Africa alone, you might hunt 30 different species, but your mount options are limited to a handful of fixed poses. Want a lion snarling at a charging buffalo, or a bushbuck mid-leap through brush? Good luck. The cost, time, and logistics make it nearly impossible. Until now.

The Breakthrough: 3D Scanning Meets 5D CNC Precision

What we’ve built is the first true fusion of real-world taxidermy and advanced manufacturing—and it starts right here in Africa, in our on-site taxidermy lab.

Step One: 3D Scanning the Animal

We begin by digitally scanning the actual animal—not just any generic species reference. This ultra-high-resolution scan captures every curve, muscle, wrinkle, and anatomical nuance of your individual trophy. Whether it’s a kudu bull, a battle-scarred lion, or a record-class bushpig, we preserve it down to the millimeter.

Step Two: Precision Measurement & Digital Modeling

Once scanned, we run the data through a powerful suite of modeling software. Our system uses a proprietary measurement algorithm to expand or contract the model based on the precise dimensions of your tanned hide. We’re not adjusting molds—we’re customizing the entire form to your animal’s real-world specs.

Step Three: 5D CNC Sculpting

Now comes the magic. Using a 5D-axis CNC router, we bring the digital model to life. Unlike basic routers that cut on three planes, our 5D system moves in full three-dimensional space, rotating, tilting, and carving in fluid motion. The result? Sculptures with lifelike texture, depth, and anatomical correctness that no hand-sculpted mold could ever replicate.

Every detail—from the snarl of a lion’s nose to the folds around a kudu’s brow—is etched into the foam with machine-perfect accuracy. What once took hours of clay and artistic imagination is now carved directly into the form—ready for mounting with unmatched speed and realism.

Infinite Poses. Limitless Creativity. Real-World Fit.

With this technology, you’re no longer stuck choosing from a limited catalog of poses. Want your sable facing right with a downhill head tilt? Done. A life-size warthog twisting out of the mud? Easy. A multiple-species habitat with animals interacting? Not a problem.

Our system allows us to:

    •    Rotate, stretch, or pose any animal in any direction
   •    Carve real, anatomically correct textures into each mount
   •    Create full-body, shoulder, pedestal, or wall mounts to spec
   •    Route terrain, bases, and even integrated habitats from the same 3D program
   •    Ensure your hide fits like a glove—with no stress, warping, or guesswork

The Result: Art Meets Innovation

This isn’t just taxidermy. It’s a renaissance in wildlife preservation.

You get world-class artistry, incredible anatomical realism, and custom poses that bring the spirit of your hunt to life. And you get it faster, more accurately, and with less cost than the old-school methods ever allowed.

Whether you’re a first-time African hunter or a seasoned sportsman looking to honor a once-in-a-lifetime trophy, Jimburnworth Safari is proud to offer a taxidermy experience as legendary as the hunt itself.
